My client is seeking software for their service department. This company sells professional audio equipment to retailers across the country. The purpose of the software is to keep track of service issues within the department, and to accelerate and streamline their current manual processes (none of which are electronic, but all paper based). As an overview, when a customer contacts the service department to report an issue, the service department must identify the customer, the unit they are having problems with, and determine whether it is related to a missing part, or inoperable unit. If the part is missing, an option to send the part out at no charge must exist. If the unit is inoperable, then the web application must walk the service department through basic troubleshooting to help determine the fault.If it is determined that the unit must be returned for service, then the web application must determine what type of RMA the customer qualifies for (Whether it is a exchange, advanced exchange, or repair). The web application will then process the RMA according to a set of business rules. This software must:- Be capable of supporting multiple internal users with permissions- Keep track of their customers, and the contacts at each site- Keep track of the each customer owns- Keep track of the different units that can be sold, and associated parts- Guide their service department through troubleshooting the products via a troubleshooting module- Create an RMA if the product must be returned (There are three types of RMAs)- Integrate with FedEx using the FedEx SDK to create return labels, if required- Support outbound shipping by creating packing lists and shipping labels.- Handle inventory tracking (Multi warehouse capable, support for locations, lot tracking)- Have a reporting module that displays pre-canned reportsI will provide a sample database schema to illustrate how data needs to be stored (I am very particular about database layouts). In addition, I will provide the proposal that was sent to my client. I am a technical person with programming experience (Limited experiences with PHP, more CF). I have a thorough understanding of database technologies, which should make this experience a lot easier.Prior to starting this project, the company that is awarded the contract must review this proposal and confirm that the bid amount properly reflects the effort required to complete this project. IThe company that is selected must have a proven record developing web based applications. I need a company that can, for the most part, work independently based on the available data (Database schema, proposal). Any additional documentation that the selected company requires must be discussed prior to starting this project. I am looking to have this completed within 45 days of my client giving us the green light. I expect this to happen by the end of the month. If the company selected can complete this project within this timeline, and the project is completed to the required specifications, my client may require an additional web based application created, which would interface with what is being created here.Companies that are willing to provide screen shots of previous work is a definite plus.
